He has accumulated a decade’s worth of public policy and political advocacy experience. Christopher most recently served as a Policy Advisor to Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX- 07) in the U.S. House of Representatives. In that role he managed an extensive legislative portfolio that consisted of the House Science, Space, & Technology Committee, Agriculture, Appropriations, Budget, Education, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Housing, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Judiciary, NASA/Space, Social Security, and the United States Postal Service. He was also appointed to serve as the House Deputy Director of the Joint Congressional Staff Task Force on Racial Justice and Reform that was charged with amplifying legislative solutions through proposed policy recommendations.
Christopher received his start in policy working for Fort Bend County, Texas Commissioner Grady Prestage as his Legislative Affairs and Communications Coordinator. Before moving to Washington, D.C., Christopher served as a Regional Communications Coordinator and Field Organizer on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign in the battleground state of Wisconsin. Shortly after arriving in D.C. he completed stints at SKDKnickerbocker on their political and public affairs teams and the National Association of Counties on their legislative staff.
Christopher, a native of Missouri City, TX, is a proud HBCU graduate of Texas Southern University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a graduate of the George Washington University (GWU) where he received his Master’s Degree in Legislative Affairs. In 2019, Christopher was recognized as a “Trailblazer in Politics” by GWU’s Graduate School of Political Management. His current professional and community leadership includes serving as a Board Member of AMP Global Youth and membership with Texas Southern University National Alumni Association, Congressional Black Associates, Urban League of Arkansas Young Professionals, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Christopher understands that in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many other Black Americans, there has been an overwhelmingly large public outcry for equity, access, participation, rights, and systemic reform. He believes that Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will a play a critical role in the social justice movement across our country, and looks forward to making sure the Social Justice Institute at Philander Smith College is at the forefront of those efforts.
